COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING FORM TO VOLUNTEER FOR HOME SAFETY ASSESSMENT TEAM
Home Safety Assessment
Periodically, the team canvasses a portion of our community to offer the services of the Home Safety Assessment Team. If the resident is not there, a flyer is left at the door announcing our visit. Those interested in this service are given a future appointment. Materials about the organization are left with the residents so they can verify the validity of the team. On the day of the appointment, our team reviews checkpoints on our inventory and looks for points of entry. This Home Safety Inventory allows our team to look at a home in the same manner a criminal might and note areas or conditions that may encourage the encounter with a malefactor. If the resident is unable to make the correction, we offer to have one of our specialist assist them if they will provide the parts and materials needed. If a team member determines that the resident cannot afford the materials, within reason, Bridge of Grace will purchase them and make the installation.
Goals: 1) To meet the physical and spiritual needs of individuals within our immediate community when possible. 2) To provide Godly role models and build a relationship with our neighbors in the community.
Director: John Morgan is director and developed the program at its inception. He has been a resident of the southeast area for over 45 years. He retired from Dana Corporation after many years as both a Factory Supervisor and Union Steward.
Staff: There are two permanent volunteers to staff the program and a pool of up to ten individuals who are capable of joining us if they are called upon, depending on the need and the event.
